Head Rush, Dizziness, and Your Risk For Heart Disease

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECK (Photo credit: Morning Calm News)

“ A new study suggests…..” Doesn’t it seem like we hear this every single week? And when it comes to heart health, it seems that there is a new study counteracting an old study every day. At least when it comes to the  benefits of L-arginine, we can all agree that some things do not change. However, with that said there is ‘a new study’ that suggests a drop in blood pressure when standing, often associated with lightheadedness, can be a sign of cardiovascular issues.

It’s a common occurrence; becoming slightly lightheaded when standing up too fast. You’ll often feel this way after a strenuous workout, maybe after a bout of illness, even after too much to drink. The condition, known scientifically as orthostatic hypotension, not to be confused with hypertension (which can be treated with l-arginine supplements in Cardio Juvenate Plus…shameless plug), can leave a person at much greater risk for heart disease and even heart failure down the road.

In the new study, and according to, people with orthostatic hypotension were 54 percent more likely to develop heart failure than their counterparts who did not develop low blood pressure upon standing. This risk was reduced to 34 percent when the researchers teased out those who also had high blood pressure.

Orthostatic hypotension, also known as postural hypotension, is more commonly called a head rush or dizzy spell. We all have them from time to time when our blood pressure suddenly falls as we stand up. Stretching is a very common trigger to these head rushes. Scientifically speaking, this head rush occurs because blood pools in the lower extremities after sitting for a time, so that when you stand to stretch your blood pressure is lower than normal. Blood cannot flow efficiently throughout the body and to all of the arteries, back to the brain, thus a head rush occurs.

Usually this is nothing to worry about. However, if you already have high blood pressure caused by bad cholesterol and plaque build-up in the arteries, combined with orthostatic hypotension, you could be at greater risk for heart disease. If your head rushes are severe or cause you to pass out, speak to your physician immediately about your heart health.

L-Arginine and High Blood Pressure

L-arginine supplements like Cardio Juvenate, especially when combined with L-carnitine and L-citrulline, provide an all-natural solution to lower blood pressure. By widening the arteries, protecting the endothelium cells, and increasing oxygen, l-arginine (the precursor to Nitric Oxide) has been scientifically proven to lower blood pressure and reduce plaque build-up.
